The Garden Walk

A walk around the Garden can take nearly an hour, but this is not a place to rush from feature to feature. Stroll. sit and enjoy the peaceful and magical atmosphere. Bring a book and immerse yourself in the ambiance. Here are just some of the things you will see at different times of the year.

Van Nost Pan

Pan, the God of Love, stands guard over the entrance to the Garden and reminds us that Rococo Gardens were sensual pleasure grounds for 18th century gentry.

Red House

The Gothic Exedra

The Red House is today a popular venue for civil wedding and partnership ceremonies

The Exedra stands proud over its herbaceous borders and the Kitchen Garden below.

Inside the Bothy

Arial View of Kitchen Garden

The Bothy houses our Harvest Festival in the Autumn and can also be hired for meetings

The Kitchen Garden is a central feature at Painswick and provides produce for our restaurant.

The Eagle House

Pigeon House

No one knows why this building is called the Eagle House, maybe it is because it gives a bird's eye view of the Garden.

The Pigeon House, however, was used for keeping a year round supply of fayre for the Dinning Room table.

One of our most popular attractions with all ages, the Anniversary Maze was first planted in 2000 to celebrate the 250th birthday of the Garden. It was designed by a Painswickian and is unusual as it has three goals you have to reach.

The Anniversary Maze

Don't miss out on our Anniversary Maze. Designed by local Painswickian Angela Newing it celebrates the Garden's 250 anniversary.
