Enchanted Garden by Night
Friday 28 November – Monday 29 December
Welcome back to Winter Lights – our third year of festive enchantment.
Brighter, bolder and more enchanting than ever before!
Whimsy, Twinkly, Enchanting!
Start your journey where the badgers begin theirs – under the gentle glow of moonlight, in the soft hush of the trees.
The Red House is ablaze with light and warmth, its fire crackling merrily.
Over by the Exedra – the jewel in the Rococo crown – a spectacular display awaits. Perfectly lit and poised, it’s a backdrop worthy of your Christmas cards, reels and “remember-when” moments.
Sip, Shop & Soak Up the Magic
Warm up with festive favourites like spiced mulled wine and hot chocolate sprinkled with cheer. Enjoy our local festive menu.
Before you journey home, visit the gift shop for carefully sourced local Christmas gifts and goodies made with produce from the garden – perfect for a truly magical Christmas.
And don’t forget to choose your Christmas tree from Exedra Nursery.
As darkness falls over Painswick Rococo Garden, a spell is cast. The trees shimmer, the ponds sparkle, and the magic of Christmas comes alive – not in a loud, glitter-and-tinsel sort of way, but with that quiet, whimsical charm you only find where nature and imagination dance together in harmony.
The gardeners may keep watch… but the Garden belongs to the woodland animals.
And they’ve been very busy.
Follow the trail where lights dance across ponds, casting ripples of colour. Look closely… are those mermaids reflecting in the candlelit plunge pool? And look! Seven swans a-swimming over the pond.
A Hidden Village in the Trees
Then – hush – what’s that? Deep in the woodland, a tiny village twinkles into view. Cabins arranged around a glowing fire, a miniature church with misted windows… but who lives there?
Fairies? Talking robins? An ambitious hedgehog mayor? We’re not saying. But we can tell you that the sleigh is taking flight nightly – and it’s being chased by a motley crew of curious woodland animals (don’t worry, they’re friendly).
At the Eagle House, nature has taken over… Peer carefully and you might find hidden creatures watching you from the undergrowth. They’re shy, but not above a good photo op.
A New Family Tradition is Born
We’re proud – glowingly proud – to have created a new Gloucestershire family tradition. Families who came with toddlers now bring grandparents. Friends meet under the stars for a cup of something warm and a wander. It’s become a moment to reconnect – with each other, with nature, with your sense of wonder.
Disco balls spin from branches. Light tunnels lead you to new discoveries. And at every corner – more “awww!” more “ohhh!” more memories waiting to be made.
This was my second year coming along, and I’ll definitely be booking again next year. My grandchildren loved the spectacular lights and finding out what happens in the garden at night. My husband and I really appreciate the peaceful atmosphere without big crowds or over-the-top displays.
It feels like our private little secret!
This winter, let Rococo Garden cast its spell on you.
“Whimsical. Magical. Unforgettable.”
The Garden is waiting. Are you coming?

Useful information before you visit
To make your visit as enjoyable as possible, we have included some key details below. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with these before your visit.
Admission Ticket:
Please have your ticket ready to be viewed on arrival. You can show us your ticket on your phone or print it.
Arrival:
Please arrive at the time stated on your tickets – this will help us to stagger arrivals and keep the car park flowing. Once in the Garden, you can stay as long as you wish, up until the time the Garden closes.
How to find us:
Our address is Painswick Rococo Garden, Gloucester Road, Painswick GL6 6TH. We’re just off the B4073, ½ mile outside the village centre. There are brown tourist signs to follow for Painswick Rococo Garden.
Car Parking & toilets:
Car parking is free. We will have plenty of lights but a torch might be a helpful addition to the evening. Our toilets are situated at the entrance, in the field above the car park. There is an accessible toilet with baby changing near the cafe.
Accessible car parking is in our main car park. Car park attendants will assist you.
Extreme weather:
In the case of extreme weather, we are likely to have to close the Garden for your safety. If this is the case, we will email you to let you know. You will be able to find the latest updates on our website – please check before travelling.
Footwear & clothing:
We recommend strong, sturdy footwear for your visit and warm outdoor clothing. The Garden’s terrain is steep in places and some pathways are uneven. During wintry weather, pathways may become slippery and muddy so please take extra care.
Refreshments:
Our Café is open from 4pm until 8pm. We’ll be selling tasty treats. We’ll also have hot and cold drinks available, including mulled wine and a very special hot chocolate. These can be enjoyed in our heated marquee or as you wander around the Garden.
Shopping:
The Shop will be open for locally-sourced gift ideas and our own range of food and drink, made with produce grown in the Garden.
Dogs:
Well-behaved dogs on short leads are very welcome to join in the Christmas fun.
Pushchairs:
Due to the Garden being set in a valley with undulating pathways, we strongly suggest the use of baby carriers. A robust buggy will cope, but it will be hard going.
Accessibility:
The Garden itself was built in a hidden valley almost 300 years ago. Paths are both steep and uneven and only around a fifth of the Garden is accessible to wheelchairs. If you have any concerns about your visit, please ring the office on 01452 813204.
