Wild Arts (★★★★ The Guardian, ★★★★★ Opera Now) presents an evening of operatic and musical hits, in the fantastical surroundings of Painswick Rococo Garden .

ROH standard, choices excellent, the quality terrific and the staging exactly right.
Libby Purvis, The Times on our Opera Evening

Semi-staged by director Guido Martin-Brandis and woven into a new narrative full of dramatic intrigue, jealousy, comedy, idealism, and true love – follow our characters as they travel through 75 minutes of music. From arias and scenes by Handel, Mozart, Rossini, and Britten, to the songs of Richard Rodgers and Stephen Sondheim.

Performed by four fabulous singers and a world-class string quintet. A sparkling and mischievous summer treat.

Spectacular doesn’t even begin to do it justice! Wow.

About the Venue
Painswick Rococo Garden was fantastical in both its character and inspiration. Squeezed into a valley, with deceptive vistas juxtaposed with serpentine paths, the Garden is peppered with charming follies to surprise and delight.

Accessibility
The garden itself was built in a hidden valley almost 300 years ago. Paths are both steep and uneven and we do not recommend using a wheelchair or mobility scooter in the garden due to its difficult terrain. If you would like more detailed information please call the garden on 01452 813204.

The address is Painswick Rococo Gardens, GL6 6TH
There is free parking at the venue.

You’re welcome to arrive and get comfortable up to 45 minutes prior to the start of the performance.

This is an outdoor performance:

  • We are looking forward to a warm summer evening, but bringing blankets for extra warmth might be a good idea! In case of extreme weather, the performance will be moved indoors to St. Mary’s Church in Painswick.
  • We recommend wearing comfortable footwear for your visit.
  • The Garden is in a valley with some steep and uneven pathways and loose surfaces which may pose challenges for those with mobility issues. We advise against using motorised scooters or wheelchairs. Please call us if you would like any further accessibility information on 01452 813204.
